I began by sanding the pillar below the area where it would meet the neck since it would be impossible to get a vibrating sander in there once the two pieces were glued. Here you can see the first step in assembling the harp: the gluing of the pillar and the neck. A special clamp-and-wedge system is used to force the neck (the piece with the holes for the tuning pegs) down tight against the pillar.
